Textiles

‘Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better’ Albert Einstein

My work is inspired by nature, my childhood experiences and memories from the countryside in which I grew up and the abundance of flowers I was surrounded by. Expressing creativity, through stitch and textiles, brings challenge, accomplishment and joy. It gives me as much pleasure to share my skills and knowledge with others as it does to make myself.
I inherited my love of sewing from my mother who made some of our clothes and soft furnishings, she embroidered, knitted and crocheted. I took A level needlework, and while training to be a primary teacher and then teaching, I carried on sewing as a hobby making bridal wear and curtains. Then, while having three young girls at home I made accessories and gifts to sell at markets and, combined my love of teaching and textiles to start classes. I also completed a City and Guilds in Embroidery.
